Tennis Scotland Open Tour 2021

The Tennis Scotland Open Tour is back with more events and opportunities to compete for all levels. We are pleased to announce our plans for the remainder of 2021.

The Tennis Scotland Tour is made up of the following:

  • TS Open Progressive Tour Events
  • TS 1000 National Series Events
  • TS Open Tour Leader Board
  • TS Open Tour Masters
  • TS 100 Club Series Events

Tennis Scotland Open Progressive Tour Events

Tennis Scotland holds two progressive draw tournaments per year, these two events link into the Scottish Indoor Championships (cancelled for 2021) and the Scottish National Championships.

When is the next event?

The upcoming Tennis Scotland Open Progressive Tour Events will take place in the following months (dates to be confirmed):

TS 500 – November 2021
Four indoor venues across Scotland

TS 1000 – December 2021
National Indoor Tennis Centre, University of Stirling

How does it work?

All players looking to take part must enter the TS 500 Event of their choice before the closing date.

After registration, some players will be given direct acceptance into the TS 1000 Event while others will be granted direct acceptance into the linked TS 500 Event (based on player rating & ranking). This gives players the opportunity to play against others of a similar standard while also providing the winners and in some cases, the runners up of the TS 500 Events, the chance to progress onto the next level.

What format and grade are the events?

TS 500 Event: Grade 4 – played over 2 days - Best of 3 sets - champions tiebreak 3rd set
TS 1000 Event: Grade 3 – played over 3 days - Best of 3 sets - champions tiebreak 3rd set
Please note - Ranking points will be awarded for all Events where there are 5 or more players in the draw from Grade 5 Events and above.

Who is eligible to play?

The tournament structure is based on player ability rather than age. Players must be eligible to play yellow ball as well as being British Tennis members with an LTA rating at the time of entry.

Doubles Event

There will also be a doubles event at the TS 1000 for both men and women.

Where do I play?

You will play at one of the indoor venues across Scotland. Players will choose their preferred venue when entering the tournament. Depending on rating and ranking, you will be placed into an event with players of similar standard, however, there will be a chance of progressing to a higher level.

How do you win the overall tournament?

Those who win the TS 1000 Event win the overall Tournament. However, there will also be prizes for the winners of the TS 500 events. Our aim is to reward all levels of players and not just the top level players.

Tennis Scotland 1000 National Series Events

As part of the TS Open Tour we are pleased to announce that a number of existing Grade 3 tournaments will become part of the TS Open Tour brand. There will be no change to these tournaments, but the ranking points players receive will now be added to the TS Open Tour Leader Board. The TS Open Tour Leader Board will give a full calendar of tournaments throughout the year for players to compete in and gain points to climb the leader board.

Players accumulate points from playing in the TS Open Progressive Tour Events as well as the TS 1000 National Series Events. Leader Board Points will mirror the ranking points players receive at these tournaments with the exception being the two TS Open Progressive Tour Events where more leader board points will be awarded.

Tennis Scotland Open Tour Masters – Singles

As part of the Tennis Scotland Open Tour there will be an end of season Masters Event. This will take place over two days in December. Players will qualify for the Masters Event by accumulating points from the TS Open Tour circuit throughout the year. The singles points will be displayed in the TS Open Tour Leader Board. The top 16 singles players for men and women will qualify for the Masters.

Tennis Scotland 100 Club Series Events

As over 60 TS 100 Club Series Events have taken place since the introduction of these tournaments, we would like to thank all the organisers who have been involved delivering them over the last few years. Tennis Scotland will again be working with local tennis clubs/organisers to deliver these one-day events.

What is a TS 100 Club Series Tournament?

These tournaments are for club improver players, adults and juniors with an LTA rating between 10.2 - 7.2 (please note this will be changed once the World Tennis Number replaces the current LTA ratings system). These tournaments are run across all of Scotland by local tennis clubs and organisers. The format for each tournament will be Fast4 and they will range from one half-day day to one full day.

Entry Details

All events can be entered online via the LTA competition search tool.
