Michael Downey joined the LTA in January 2014 after nine successful years as President and Chief Executive Officer of Tennis Canada, during which time the sport has enjoyed significant growth, both at grassroots and at the elite level.
As CEO, Michael is responsible for leading the execution of the LTA’s long term strategy, all day-to-day management decisions, and acts as a liaison between the Board and management of the LTA.
Michael was formerly Regional President for Canada's largest brewery, Molson Canada, and Vice President, sales and marketing, for the Toronto Raptors (NBA), the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL) and the Air Canada Centre.
Michael is 56 and has two sons. His wife, Jinder, has one daughter.
