and part self-employed coach within a team of coaches at an LTA award winning indoor tennis centre in South Devon.
There will also be plenty of opportunity to boost income as a self employed coach with individual lessons, running competitions, restringing, holiday camps and Pickleball. You will be supported with training where necessary.
We currently have a Level 5 Master Coach, leading a team of level 3,2 1 coaches, and young leaders. We are now looking for an enthusiastic level 2 coach or above, who is passionate about tennis and can become passionate about helping our centre to thrive for the whole community.
As an LTA Registered Venue with LTA Youth Recognised status, we follow the LTA coach development programmes. All our coaches have to have an up-to-date LTA Accreditation and actively be engaging in LTA provided CPD or have a desire to do so.
This year we were awarded the LTA Lexus Gamer Changer award form making a significant contribution to grass roots tennis.
In particular, the Centres’ inclusive programmes, such as wheelchair tennis, walking tennis, tennis for neurodiverse children, tennis for children who are home educated, tennis for mums and tots and activities for people struggling with their mental health – because these programmes have had a huge impact both on the physical and mental wellbeing of the centre’s users.
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of this award winning team, to develop as a coach as the centre grows and to become part of the local community.
About Us: #TENNISOPENEDUP
With a reputation for tennis performance and competitions, the South Devon Tennis Centre has long been the place to go for those wanting to improve their game. Under the tutelage of Master Performance Coach Paul Butcher who has spent 40 years developing a junior programme, the South Devon Tennis Centre has produced many county level players, with some gaining University Tennis Scholarships (UK/USA) plus a flow of full and part-time coaches working both home and abroad.
Now with a renewed emphasis on #TennisOpenedUp for everyone, The Tennis Centre, is a hive of activity for the whole community. Now offering all forms of tennis for all ages, standards and abilities, there is something for everyone @TheCentre.
Our Philosophy:
We have a passion for tennis. Our users don’t have to be the best players but if they have a passion and are driven to play more and improve then we are here to help.
Our Academy Programme is supported through a 29-year relationship with the local Community College allowing aspirational players access to a 9-hour weekly squad programme. Pre-county and county squads prepare children for Devon County selection and beyond.
We pride ourselves on providing opportunities to play, opportunities to grow and with a realistic coaching programme that challenges the perceptions of tennis as an elite sport our programme is affordable, enabling all young people to access tennis.
