Holiday Camp Lead Coach – Job Description
Role Overview
The Holiday Camp Lead Coach is responsible for planning, delivering, and overseeing engaging sports and activity sessions for children during school holiday camps. This role ensures a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment while leading a team of coaches to provide high-quality experiences for all participants.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver a variety of fun, structured sports and activity sessions suitable for different age groups and abilities
Lead, motivate, and support a team of assistant coaches and volunteers
Ensure all activities are safe, inclusive, and follow safeguarding and health & safety guidelines
Manage daily camp operations, including registration, attendance, and scheduling
Act as the main point of contact for parents/guardians, handling queries professionally
Monitor and evaluate sessions to maintain high standards of delivery
Promote positive behaviour and create a supportive, encouraging environment for all children
Handle any incidents or concerns in line with company policies and procedures
Assist with setup and pack-down of equipment and facilities
Requirements
Relevant coaching qualification (e.g., Level 2 in a sport or equivalent)
Experience working with children in a sports or activity setting
Strong leadership and communication skills
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices
First Aid certification (desirable)
Enthusiastic, reliable, and approachable personality

The Parklangley Club runs multiple venues and Parks sites across Bromley. The club has a team of over 20 coaches.

Essential Qualifications & Certifications
Relevant coaching qualification (e.g. Level 2 in sports coaching, activity leadership, or equivalent)
Valid First Aid certification
Safeguarding
Enhanced DBS check (or equivalent background clearance)
Experience working with children (typically ages 4–16) in a coaching, teaching, or camp setting
Experience planning and delivering structured activities or sessions
Experience leading or supervising a team (assistant coaches or volunteers)
Handling behaviour management in a positive, constructive way
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities
Ability to plan engaging, inclusive, and safe activity programmes
Excellent communication skills with both children and adults
Leadership and team coordination skills
Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
Strong organisational skills and time management
Awareness of health & safety procedures in a camp environment
