Performance Coach - The West Hants Club
We are looking to hire a coach to become a key part of the Academy Coaching team and someone who can work across all our performance programmes including the Academy, 11U Performance and RPDC. The successful candidate would report to the academy head coach and work with regional players aged 8-18 looking to start at the earliest opportunity.
The goal of the performance pathway at the club is to produce players to a National Standard across all ages of the programme with those players then striving for international success and to achieve selection to the various LTA performance pathway programmes and opportunities.
The role also comes with a view of additional individual lesson hours being delivered on a self-employed basis working with the players involved in the performance programmes.
We are looking for an individual with the energy, enthusiasm, passion and a strong work ethic to work as part of the performance programme with the highest potential youngsters the South West has to offer.
The Coach will deliver on squad and individual sessions of the Academy/11U Programme as well as working closely with the Director of Tennis, RPDC Head Coach and S&C Team to help create the appropriate programme and platform for the players to thrive.
This involves being responsible for implementing and delivering the West Hants cultural pillars of Commit, Develop, Compete, Repeat.
Responsibilities & Expectations:
•In coordination with the performance coaching team, deliver weekly individual and squad training sessions to meet the needs of the player base over a minimum 36 weeks (approx 20 hours a week)
•The coach will be expected to undertake further individual sessions on a self-employed basis.
•Working closely with the Head coaches and the S&C Team to play an integral role of fully managing players programmes ensuring the content is suitable to the development of the player (weekly schedules, IDP’s, annual plan, goals)
•Be able to work within a team environment and contribute on a consistent basis for the benefit of the players and team.
•Plan and deliver high quality training sessions for all players in the programme
•Display a suitable playing level to ensure high quality sparring (minimum 14U international standard).
•Be available remotely to players, parents and individual coaches should they require feedback and support away from weekly delivery.
•In coordination with the Head Coaches, attend selected competitions providing the highest standards of coaching & support.
•Where necessary, attend other competitions to ensure the highest level of coach support as well as maintaining awareness of standards.
The West Hants Club is a members leisure club which has facilities that offer the opportunity to enjoy the best in sports, fitness and relaxation. We are an LTA LPDC and RPDC and one of the premier tennis centres in the UK. These performance programmes offer training to the best junior players in the region. We have 20 courts including a 4 court indoor centre, 10 well maintained American clay, 2 outdoor acrylic and 4 astro courts. In the winter we have access to 11 indoor courts with bubbles over 4 of the outdoor courts and use of a 3 court bubble at another site. The West Hants Club is a prestigious and luxurious facility that meets every possible need and alongside the tennis courts the club boasts, four squash courts, a state of the art gymnasium, two air-conditioned fitness studios as well as an indoor heated swimming pool and a dedicated High Performance Gym. We have a comprehensive and successful tennis programme that has consistently produced junior players of National and International standard over the last 15 years.
•Require Level 4 SPC qualification as a minimum (or in the process of achieving). •Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours as necessary (including evenings and weekends) to deliver the programme and tournament support. •Maintaining up to date LTA coach accreditation plus and DBS and committing to continuous professional development both formal and informal. •Open to travel to identified international events (based upon the needs of the player base) •Driving License and car. •IT literate with excellent written, verbal, communication and influencing skills |
