Head Coach - Hartswood Lawn Tennis Club Ltd( Self Employed)


This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-employed Head of Tennis coach with leadership experience to join our club and inspire our club membership with creative tennis coaching programmes, for both adults and juniors. The role also includes the development of team tennis and the organisation of social mix-ins for adults and juniors.
Within the club’s membership base of 550 there are over 100 juniors. There are many enthusiastic players who want to improve their level of tennis, which makes this both a demanding and rewarding environment. The successful candidate should be comfortable engaging in a role where they balance the needs of a wide range of tennis abilities.
They would source and lead a small team of LTA Level 2-4 self-employed coaches and assistants required to meet the coaching needs of the relevant membership types and levels of ability. They will also be responsible for developing the standard of team tennis with the 12 teams that Hartswood fields in the Middlesex league. A key priority is to develop a Hartswood juniors programme and age-specific Hartswood junior teams.
They will demonstrate a collaborative approach with the club’s committee, be member-focused and actively engage with the Tennis Committee at the club.
They will be responsible for creating a programme of junior and adult tennis mix-ins, box leagues, tennis ladders and performance coaching for teams, creating and supporting tennis events, running club tournaments and competitions to the appropriate level at the club.
Hartswood Tennis club is a little gem, set within the leafy suburbs of West London. The club has a thriving membership and has been around for over 110 years. It has six tennis hard courts which have all been recently re-surfaced with a cushioned acrylic surface, all with floodlights. The club has a small but charming clubhouse with an office space for the coaches.
Hartswood has 13+ teams who play in the Middlesex Leagues - five women’s teams, five men’s teams and three mixed teams, who play both in the summer and winter tournaments.
This dynamic person will have a positive and innovative outlook and be responsible for developing and overseeing a variety of social, competitive and coaching activities within a comprehensive tennis programme across the membership.
The successful applicant will need to be able to meet the following requirements:
- Engaging and enthusiastic
- Self-motivated
- Flexible to work on weekends and school holidays
- Preferably Level 5, minimum LTA Level 4
- Must hold LTA Accreditation+
- Hold valid DBS, First Aid and Safeguarding certificates
- Proven leadership and administrative skills
- Experience of develop programmes in a member club environment
- Experience of running tennis coaching programmes, ladders and competitions
- IT literate
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, attention to detail and collaboration
- Ability to take constructive feedback, demonstrate skills in diplomacy, emotional intelligence and motivation
