Head Coach - Buckhurst Hill Lawn Tennis Club
Buckhurst Hill Bowling and Lawn Tennis Club (‘BHBLTC’) is seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Head Coach with at least 5 years’ experience to lead the Club’s tennis programmes and support the Club’s Committee’s ambition to make BHBLTC a place that supports the growth of tennis as a sport for all.
This is a self-employed role, based on standard LTA-approved terms and conditions.
BHBLTC has a voluntary Committee whose role is to execute the strategic direction and upholding of the Club for its members and to oversee and lead on the overall planning of tennis-related activities.
BHBLTC currently has a vacancy for a full-time Head Coach, with up to 17 hours per week of group classes (juniors and adults), plus up to 35 weekly hours of individual coaching. BHBLTC will pay the Head Coach a retainer fee, with the potential for additional income stemming from personal coaching

The Head Coach’s principal responsibilities include the following:
•Partnering with the Committee to deliver the club’s vision, providing an inclusive, friendly and exciting programme, and making BHBLTC a great place to play for all our members.
•Creating a sense of community leading to player retention and the growth of the club.
•Assuming overall responsibility for the youth and senior tennis programmes.
•Leading the management, communication and execution of tennis events, such as weekly tennis socials and tournaments.
•Assuming responsibility for coaching the juniors, working alongside the other coaches and parents/volunteers.
•Establishing the delivery of outreach with local schools, providing opportunities to play.
•Excellence in demonstrating timely adherence and compliance with LTA and the Club’s standards.
•Acting as an ambassador for the Club in terms of:
oRole modelling the Club’s values as one of the first points of contact for members at the club;
oEngaging with visitors, guests, parents etc., in a friendly and inclusive manner that demonstrates a professional club;
oBuilding relationships across the membership, including with those who do not use coaching facilities;
oEncouraging the retention and growth of the Club’s membership; and
oTaking primary responsibility for on-premise safeguarding and tidiness in accordance with the Club’s processes, reporting identified issues promptly to appropriate Committee members.
BHBLTC prides itself on its friendly and dynamic vibe. It has 4 artificial grass courts, all of which are floodlit. There is a comfortable clubhouse with an outside terrace and seating, with a fully operational bar and function room. There is a second, separate clubhouse with a kitchenette and seating with court views.
Coaching is running with 2 LTA-qualified coaches covering an extensive year-round programme across all ages and abilities, with competitive tennis for adults.
The successful applicant will ideally be an LTA-Accredited Level 3 coach or above. An up to date First Aid training is also highly desirable. They will have demonstrable experience gained in a tennis club or school programme (or a combination of both), as the Head of Tennis, Head Coach or as an assistant/associate Head of Tennis and be able to provide evidence of:
On-Court:
•Mastery in tailoring programmes to cater to a range of skill levels, ensuring a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
•Commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of all participants by adhering to safeguarding policies and promoting a positive and inclusive sporting environment in line with the values of the Club.
Off-Court:
•Being responsible for maintaining their LTA accreditation at all times, relevant insurances and for their own CPD.
•Being at all times a positive ambassador for BHBLTC.
•Ability to provide mentorship and development opportunities that enable progression and continuous improvement/training.
•Interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain a harmonious club environment.
The appointment will be subject to the provision of an enhanced DBS check.
