British No.3 Liam Broady has received a wild card into the main draw of the cinch Championships, which starts on Monday.

Broady has improved his ranking by more than 60 places since tennis restarted last summer, currently standing at No.146, just shy of his career-high position.

He joins fellow Britons Andy Murray, Dan Evans and Cameron Norrie in the draw for the tournament, and the LTA’s Head of Men’s Tennis, Leon Smith says he fully merits his place.

“Liam has made significant strides over the past couple of years, and he made the most of the lockdown period to get himself in the best shape possible,” said Smith.

“That has shown itself in his results, rising almost 70 spots in the rankings since August. The LTA is really focussing on giving British players as many opportunities as possible because it’s been a very challenging time for most over the last 15 months during the pandemic”

In addition to Broady and Murray, the cinch Championships has one remaining wild card to award before the main draw is made.

Also into the singles main draw will be defending champion Feliciano Lopez, who stood three places outside of the original cut off when the Entry List reached its deadline last month.

Lopez, who memorably won both singles and doubles in 2019, replaces the injured Nick Kyrgios, whilst Jeremy Chardy has also been elevated into the main draw.

The singles draw is scheduled to be made at 12pm on Saturday.

The cinch Championships, one of the LTA’s major summer events, will be able to accommodate approximately 25% of its normal full capacity, and the event will be socially distanced, in line with the current safety protocols required by the UK Government and the ATP Tour.
