Jamie Murray is back in his Tournament Director’s chair later this month, gathering Britain’s best women’s and men’s players to take part in a unique team competition, hosted at the LTA’s National Tennis Centre in Roehampton from the week commencing 27 July.

The star-studded exhibition event will feature two teams selected by team captains, with eight matches - singles, doubles and mixed - across two show courts every day. Each team will be comprised of six women and six men, who will look to rack up points for their respective teams across the week-long event, with the overall winner to be crowned at the end of seven days of play.

'Showcasing the best of British tennis in a unique team competition'

Speaking of the launch of the event, seven-time Grand Slam doubles and mixed doubles champion, Jamie Murray, said:

“It is hugely exciting to be bringing Battle of the Brits Team Tennis to the British Fans at the end of July.  Battle of the Brits Team Tennis will be showcasing the best of British tennis in a unique team competition. We will continue to raise funds for charity during the week of competition.”

This event forms part of the behind closed doors series of tournaments that are being staged on a weekly basis at the LTA’s National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, which commenced with the inaugural Schroders Battle of the Brits at the end of June as part of a co-ordinated plan in returning to elite competition. Other events taking place this month are four British Tour events (2-26 July) and the Progress Tour Women’s Championships (14-18 July).

'We want to do all we can to support elite players during this period'

Scott Lloyd, LTA Chief Executive said:

“Innovation is a key part of the LTA’s five year plan to grow tennis in this country and we are delighted to partner with Jamie on this exciting new team event, showcasing Britain’s best men’s and women’s players in a unique format. Over recent weeks, the LTA has been actively engaged with UK Sport and the Government in developing guidelines for behind closed doors events and we are pleased to be a partner and host of another tournament at the National Tennis Centre. We want to do all we can to support elite players during this period and keep tennis in the public eye over the summer.”
