Abby gets GB call

• 2 MINUTE READ

Abby Kelliher has been named in the Under-16 Girls’ GB team for the upcoming Tennis Europe Winter Cup event.

The 15-year-old joins Mika Stojsavljevic and Allegra Korpanec Davies in the team which will compete in the qualifying stage in Lousada, Portugal from 3-5th February.

Team GB will compete against Croatia, Cyprus, Ireland, Ukraine, Netherlands and Portugal at the qualifying stage as they attempt to qualify for the European Finals.

“I was shell shocked. I didn’t think I’d ever be picked for Great Britain again, especially after my injury. It just shows that effort and determination does pay off. I want to make selecting the singles players a headache for the captain by putting myself in the best place as possible."

Tennis Wales’ Head of Performance Chris Lewis said: “Abby’s selection for the GB squad is due reward for all the hard work she puts in, and is recognition of her ability to win matches for the team in both singles and doubles. We wish Abby and the whole team the best of luck in their bid to reach the finals later this month.”
