The role is self-employed with scope for a good number of hours. Current coaching volume is around 1,300 court hours per year, mainly in groups, and with further scope for development. There is the opportunity to create more groups, and build your own clients, with support from the club, and as you become established there will be an opportunity to grow your role.

Flexibility to work a mixture of days, evenings and weekends would be crucial to you succeeding in the role. It would also be expected that you would develop players according their own goals and work alongside indoor tennis facilities to help the players achieve their goals and aspirations.

Tavistock Tennis Club is entering a new phase of development so this is an ideal time to get on
board

We have 8 outdoor courts – 4 Astroturf and 4 hardcourts. All of the Astroturf and 2 of the hardcourts are floodlit with new LED lights installed in late 2023. We have a large membership and a variety of players of all ages and standards.

We have a good range of groups, squads, and social tennis, for all ages and abilities. We run 6 Men’s teams, 4 Ladies’ teams and 4 Junior teams in the local Plymouth and District league. Our Men’s A team won Division One last season

We are looking for a coach who is competent, organised, highly professional at all times, a team player who is determined to develop themselves. You must be passionate about putting the players at the centre of all you do, and ensuring they are technically proficient with the skills and selfmotivation to keep them enthused about the game longer term. You must be a good communicator and have an inclusive approach. Your lessons will be structured, focussed and motivational. An emphasis on Safeguarding is a must. You will be supported in your development.

This would suit an aspirational coach in the early stages of their career (Level 3), or a more
experienced coach (level 3 or 4) who is looking to develop their role more widely. LTA or equivalent.
