Great Britain's Fed Cup team sealed a stunning 2-0 victory over Serbia to reach the World Group II Play-Offs and give themselves a shot at returning to the elite World Group level for the first time since 1993.

After Great Britain finished top of Group A in the round-robin stage of the Europe/Africa Group I competition (defeating Slovenia, Greece and Hungary), Katie Boulter and Johanna Konta secured singles victories in the promotion play-off against Group B winners Serbia at the University of Bath.

British No.2 Boulter maintained her flawless form to sail past world No.117 Ivana Jorovic 6-4, 6-3 and clinch her fourth Fed Cup singles win of the week. After making her debut just 12 months ago at the same zonal event in Tallinn, she now holds a remarkable 6/0 win/loss record (four singles wins in Bath and two doubles wins in Tallinn).

Following her performance, Katie said: "I've put everything into this week. I tried to do the best that I could and today it was enough. To go out there and get four wins is more than I could ever ask for."

British No.1 Konta sent Great Britain into April's World Group II Play-Offs by battling past world No.57 Aleksandra Krunic. After taking the opening set tie-break, she was forced to play a deciding set when Krunic fought back in the second, but held her nerve to triumph 7-6(1), 3-6, 6-2.

With the tie sealed 2-0, the captains opted against playing the doubles dead rubber, which would have been played by Katie Swan and Harriet Dart.

The event marked Great Britain's first home tie in over a quarter of a century and the team certainly rose to occasion by winning all of their ten matches played (eight singles and two doubles).

The Brits have now qualified for the World Group II Play-Offs five times in the last eight years (2012, 2013, 2017, 2018 and 2019) and will be looking to go one step further in April as they bid to return to the World Group.

The draw will be announced on Tuesday 12 February - for the latest news and information, keep an eye out on TwitterFacebook and Instagram.
