This is a wonderful opportunity, with lots of potential for the right person! As our Coach, you will be enthusiastic, versatile, and flexible and be able to set up and subsequently deliver a comprehensive coaching programme to our Club and community. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, to bring their energy and excitement for tennis and infuse our club with a commitment to improving the tennis and enjoyment we share for the game and increasing participation and inclusivity. We also expect that a significant numbers of indoor court hours, just eight miles away in Ulverston, will be available for the successful candidate. Mentoring and support can also be offered to our incoming Coach by the current Cumbria Tennis TDO.

We are a unique Members and Pay and Play Tennis and multi-sports facility, situated in the beautiful English Lake District in Cumbria, and our outdoor tennis courts have been recently refurbished. In all, the Club has 9 courts, 6 hard and 3 excellent grass, and the Club currently fields 4 teams, in 3 local leagues, and are hoping to increase this number. Hawcoat Park Sports Club actively encourages the residents of Barrow and the outlying areas to use its facilities and in addition to the tennis facilities currently maintains and operates 2 football pitches, 2 rugby pitches, 2 bowling greens, 1 cricket pitch, and a training pitch.
The club, set in extensive grounds, has a bar, which is open every day and rooms that are ideal for conferencing that will accommodate small groups of around 10 people to much larger groups of up to 200.
Location Overview
With the sea on three sides and the Lakes on the other, the bustling Victorian town of Barrow-in-Furness, which enjoys 60km of stunning coastline, makes the most of its enviable location, and with a population of more than 70,000, including some of it’s near neighbours, offers massive potential for a Coach looking to develop and deliver a comprehensive coaching programme.

We think the ideal candidate will have a great mix of people skills, a fun and positive outlook, and a real knowledge of and passion for the game.

Required
The club is looking for a well organised person who is passionate and enthusiastic about tennis, with effective communication skills to inspire and motivate people of all ages, genders and abilities.

The successful applicant will ideally be an LTA Accredited+ Level 3 Coach or above or a Level 2 Accredited Coach working towards Level 3, and have:
•The ability to plan and deliver a full and varied coaching programme, including Holiday Camps and Open/Taster Days, making use of various LTA initiatives, and to encourage and deliver competition (both competitive and social) as part of the programme while ensuring players retain a sense of enjoyment of the game.
•Key skills that transfer to both coaching groups and individuals, and all ages from the very young to seniors of all abilities.
•An infectious and passionate enthusiasm for getting people into tennis and the ability to act as the main point of contact for parents of juniors on the coaching programme and new adult members.
•Ability to identify players with potential and have the drive and skills to work with them, and with other coaches to take them on to the next stage in their tennis journey.
•Relationship skills to ensure a close working partnership is developed with the Committee and other coaches to enhance the overall experience of tennis at the Club and to organise various competitive and social events; and attend Committee meetings and Club events, as necessary.
•The ability to be proactive in the promotion of tennis and the Club in the local area, with practical ideas that will bring in new players, grow the membership, promote inclusion, and develop relationships with targeted community groups, schools, businesses, other clubs, etc.
•Good organisational skills and be able to maintain good financial and attendance records, work online, able to use social media, produce reports, programmes and publicity as needed.
•A record of being dependable and punctual.

Desirable
•Knowledge of working with schools to develop quality school links and develop a Schools Outreach Programme.
•Strong people management and mentoring skills to support any coaching team as required to support the delivery of your programme.
•A working knowledge of Clubspark to administer the coaching programme.
•A keen interest in developing their own skills and strengths, in particular deepening knowledge of technique, tactics, fitness, psychology, and social demands of the sport through a Continuous Professional Development programme.
•Ideally, a full UK driving licence.
