Nottingham Tennis Centre are inviting applications for a tennis coach to work within the Regional Player Development Centre and Performance Programme. We are looking for an individual with the passion, commitment, and expertise to create an inspiring and transformational development environment which prepares players for the international junior stage of the pathway. The successful applicant will work under the guidance of the Nottingham Tennis Centre Head of Junior Performance, delivering around 30 hours per week of term time coaching (combination of squad and individual sessions) and attending tournaments. The RPDC & Performance Coach is responsible for living the LTA values of Teamwork, Integrity, Passion, Excellence, and Inclusion.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To provide inspirational and high-quality coaching to all players within the RPDC & Performance Programme and take individual responsibility and accountability for the coaching and development of a number of identified players. This will include coaching individual players, squads, and groups throughout the year at base and at tournaments (domestic and international), and developing, planning, and implementing individual player development plans (IDPs) and tournament schedules.
  • Assist the Head of Junior Performance & Lead RPDC Coach in driving and implementing the RPDC values and player development philosophy across the programme to successfully achieve the RPDC purpose/outputs.
  • In coordination with the Head of Junior Performance – Nottingham RPDC, attend selected competitions as part of the players annual competition plan, proving the highest standards of coaching & support.
  • Building excellent working relationships with parents to enhance player development and ensure parents are informed and appropriately involved in decisions made
  • Be available remotely to players, parents and individual coaches should they require feedback and support away from weekly delivery
  • Work closely with the Head of Junior Performance – Nottingham RPDC and LTA National Age Group coaches to ensure that the content of the programmes and training fits with the players programmes needs.
  • Ensure the reputation of the LTA & Nottingham Tennis Centre are maintained (including any social media)

The Centre boasts 15 covered courts, 13 grass courts and 12 outdoor hard courts. So whether you are just starting out, looking to up your game or wanting to watch the professionals in action, we’ve got something for you!

State of the art Gym

The Centre’s Gym has over 50 Exercise Stations including, cardio machines including cross trainers, treadmills, steppers and bikes, free Weights, Functional Area & Olympic Platform

Previous Experience of: Essential:

  • Track record of working with and developing high potential U14 tennis players of both genders to the standards required for future national level success
  • Working with IT and video-based systems in order to provide technical and tactical feedback to players about their performance
  • Experience of working in coach led multi-disciplinary team environments to review players’ development, establish and implement individual development plans with successful outcomes

Desirable:

  • High performance tennis playing and/or coaching ability and credibility amongst professional tennis players and tennis coaches

Knowledge, Training & Qualifications: Essential:

  • SPC Level 4 and LTA Accredited + (or working towards)
  • Up-to-date LTA coach accreditation including a satisfactory DBS disclosure
  • Committed to the Performance Team Coach Development Programme 
  • An understanding of the demands of players as they transition into the international junior game
  • Excellent working knowledge of the LTA Performance coaching principles and how to apply them with 16U players
  • Excellent working knowledge and understanding of how to engage, communicate and motivate young players
  • IT literate with excellent written, verbal, communication and influencing skills (must provide own IT equipment)

Desirable:

  • MPC Level 5 and LTA Accredited +

Personal Attributes:

Essential: 

  • Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours as necessary to deliver the programme
  • Driving License and car
  • Willingness to regularly attend domestic National & Tennis Europe tournaments, as well as selected international events to service the player base 
  • Sets high personal standards of professionalism and performance and always acts accordingly
  • Highly adaptable to known and unknown changes in the training environment and ability to maintain athlete focus
  • Highly motivated to provide an excellent environment for talented young players from a diverse range of backgrounds to develop and thrive within
  • Committed to on-going personal and professional development including attendance at LTA RPDC coach development workshops
  • Continually striving to rigorously review one’s own performance and the impact of the RPDC programme
