The person / organisation would work closely with HTC Community Department to provide the added benefit of coaching to the community:

  • Provide a comprehensive coaching programme that meets the needs of the school pupils from Primary through to Secondary and surrounding community.
  • To offer adult coaching classes for a range of abilities.
  • Work closely with the school and LTA local teams to use and deliver the range of appropriate products and programmes that the LTA provide.
  • Provide some element of introductory / free tennis to support the engagement of the local community.
  • Deliver a strategy of engaging groups of people who do not currently participate in tennis.
  • Manage the marketing and promotion of the coaching programme via social media, local advertising and open days.
  • Encourage and deliver recreational competition.
  • Maintain links with wider local schools and community groups to help attract more players to the programme and more users to the site overall.

Horndean Technology College are completing the refurbishment of seven tennis courts on their school site.

 

The facility has 7 courts, four non floodlit and 3 floodlit offering outdoor facilities all year round. Access is via PIN code and users either have an annual membership or can book one off courts for a per court per hour fee.

 

HTC are looking to recruit a person / organisation who can manage and coordinate all aspects of their coaching programme. This will involve use of the clubspark booking system and gate access technology that will be installed as part of the court refurbishments.

The ideal candidate will also:

  • Have excellent communication skills enabling them to relate effectively with the community.
  • Be inventive in exploring/offering new coaching opportunities, including LTA-led programs.
  • Possess good organisational skills in order to manage the program including CRM (Clubspark) system to ensure a good customer journey to book onto coaching.

COACHING PROVIDER EXPECTATIONS

The successful person / organisation would contribute a rental fee to HTC from income generated to the ongoing maintenance of the courts. It is proposed that this rental fee to be paid in monthly instalments to support the person / organisation in managing the courts.

Additional detail is provided below:

  • The person / organisation recruited will keep all income generated by the courts.
  • That income would in part would be use to make a contribution back to the school in relation to use of the courts (e.g. court and floodlight fees). Courts will be charged at a hourly rate (non-floodlit), and an additional cost per hour rate (floodlit).
  • The person / organisation will be responsible for administering and marketing the coaching programme and any operational costs this incurs. There will be opportunity to request support from HTC to amplify the court offer to the public.
  • The programme of activities and management of the courts will be reviewed by Nicola Bugden and Caroline Whiffin with support from the LTA officers in respect of having an appropriate offer for the local community.
  • The person / organisation will ensure that all staff used to deliver activities are appropriately LTA qualified and accredited.
  • The person / organisation would be fully responsible for their own tax and national insurance contributions within the appropriate legal status.
  • HTC proposes enter into an initial agreement for 2 years with a suitable probationary period and an annual review of performance against agreed objectives. First refusal to extend the agreement will be granted to the successful person/ organisation.
  • The person / organisation will have sole commercial coaching rights at the venue.
  • The person / organisation will not be permitted to sub-contract court hours to other organisations to deliver the same services.
  • The coaching provider will partner with the LTA/Sports England to provide a range of community tennis activities – supporting all initiatives and relevant products. E.g. LTA youth, Big Tennis Weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Competent IT skills (Word/ Excel/PowerPoint/Databases/Microsoft Office/internet)
  • Minimum LTA Level 3 Qualification for coaching services.
  • DBS
  • LTA Accreditation + and full Public Liability Insurance
  • Full UK Drive License
  • Advantageous to have business and finance management systems in place to use on this project (e.g. own clubspark account experience)
