14 year old Morven McCulloch qualified for the main draw of the AEGON Pro- Series, Edinburgh today after beating Jodie Kinnon (Hampshire) 6-2, 6-4 in the final round of the women's qualifying.
McCulloch, who is originally from St Andrews, now trains at the Tennis Academy at St George's under the watchful eye of Head Coach Marcel Du Coudray, who was pleased with today's performance.
"This is Morven's first professional tournament" said Du Coudray. "Even though she is still only 14, she is showing that she has the maturity to play at this level."
Morven will face wild card Lucy Brown (Oxfordshire) in the main draw tomorrow (6th May). Brown is currently ranked number 3 in Britain in the 16&U age group, whilst Morven is currently 8th.
Fellow Scot and wild card, Katie Gater (Dunblane) will also start her challenge tomorrow as she faces Zuzana Linhova (CZE).
