Job Description 

A role suitable for a self-employed tennis coach or coaching operator (who can provide a consistent workforce) in delivering a community tennis programme for typically 10-15 hours per week on behalf of the Parish Council.

Proposed Schedule: 3 weekdays (morning/early evening) plus Sunday am. – open to negotiation

Key Role Requirements

Programme
1.The Parish Council will decide the broad programme offer, however the coach/operator is required to input into the scheduling of the programme and be part of the planning and review process.
2.All programme activites will operate through the Clubspark platform. The coach/operator will be required to upload courses, oversee bookings and provide excellent customer service.
3.The programme will focus on player attraction opportunities for adults and juniors within a weekly schedule, reviewed and refined 2-3 times per year.
4.The coach/operator will be required to drive the attraction/ retention of players.
5.The coach/operator will need to be able to deliver products such as LTA Youth/LTA Youth Start, Cardio Tennis, Tennis Xpress, Pair and Play.
6.A weekly community session (such as Tennis For Free) to target families.
7.To deliver and organise Tennis Camps during schools holidays at Easter, May and Summer.
8.Assist in the organisation and delivery of any open events or taster session for the community.
9.Court time for individual lesson will be through a separate arrangement.

Competition
10.Organise and deliver competition as part of the programme.
11.Deliver fesitval events and may be requested to organise competitions such as box leagues.

Workforce
12.Any coaches / assistants working on the programme are required to hold LTA Accreditation and appropriate qualification for the activity for which they are engaged. All require approval of the Parish Council before delivering at the site.

Meetings & Communication
13.Attending meetings with the nominated Parish Council respresentative and provide report information as required as part of the planning, review and monitoring process.
14.To communicate with the LTA Participation officers as required.

Income from coaching will come through the Clubspark account held by the Parish Council with a significant % of programme income provided to the coach.

Overview of the Venue 

Upton by Chester and District Parish Council operate facilities at QEII Playing Fields and the Pavilion at Wealstone Lane, Upton. There are two artificial grass tennis courts available for public pay and play and an LTA registered tennis club with a number of block booked hours per week.

Plans to provide floodlighting to the courts to increase the playing hours year round are underway.

Person Specification 

1.A professional appearance and attitude and an excellent standard of customer service.
2.LTA Qualified Level 3 or above
3.LTA Coach Accredited (ideally Accredited +)
4.Experience of coaching young children through to adults in groups
5.Knowledge of LTA products for player attraction e.g. LTA Youth, Tennis Xpress and completed required training/CPD.
6.Experience of working inclusively e.g disability tennis is desirable.
7.Strong organisation and communication skills.
8.Experience of Clubspark or alternative programme & client management tool
9.Approachable, enthusiastic, with excellent customer focus
10.Operators need to demonstrate experience of delivering in a community setting.
