Surrey Tennis U10 Lead Coach (Part-time)
The role (part-time) is expected to require approximately 45 days of commitment per year.
Surrey Tennis aims to significantly expand participation in County Training for the U8, U9, and U10 age groups, and enhance support across competition, training schedules, and the overall tennis pathway. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the U10 National Coach for the Southeast, attending U9/U10 LTA Regional Camps and playing a key role in the selection process. They will communicate effectively with both the LTA National Coach and the CPM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend and lead on all U10 Surrey County Training – currently held on
Saturdays from 2pm to 7pm at Sutton Tennis Academy.
- Collaborate closely with the CPM on all aspects of U10 Surrey Tennis activities and performance, delivering impartial support that prioritises the overall Performance Programme rather than focusing on individual players.
- Attend LTA Regional Camps to represent Surrey Tennis and stay updated on
standards across the Southeast.
- Work positively and professionally with all performance orientated coaches
across the County.
- Assist the CPM in identifying further performance tennis opportunities in the U10 space across Surrey – Coaches, Venues and Players.
- Maintain close communication with the Surrey Tennis Performance Committee regarding all aspects of U10 Tennis.
- Support the CPM and County Cup Team Captains in team selections for all
U8/U9/U10 County Cups.
- Assist the CPM in organising and delivering Surrey Tennis Welcome Days, held biannually.
- Work closely with the CPM in preparing and selecting players for U8-U10
County Training.
- Serve as the primary liaison for players and parents, communicating selection criteria and providing clear explanations regarding team placement decisions to all stakeholders.
- Build on the reputation of Surrey County Training by serving as a positive role
model for Surrey Tennis.
Surrey Tennis are the governing body for tennis in Surrey. Our aim is to work together with coaches, players, officials, venues, parents and more to increase participation, improve facilities and raise playing standards across the County.
- LTA Accredited+ Coach with a minimum Level 4 certification.
- Experience in coaching performance tennis for players aged 10 and under.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate players of all ages.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan and deliver effective coaching sessions.
- A passion for tennis and the ability to inspire this in others.
