Newmarket Tennis Club Head Coach
Following the retirement of the present head coach, this is an amazing opportunity for an experienced coach to take on a very successful large coaching programme. This is a “genuine” Head Coach role where the successful applicant will have ownership of the entire coaching programme including all adult groups plus a current junior squad programme grossing £50K a year. This is in addition to income from individual lessons. The coach will have access to indoor courts over the winter months and the support of passionate committee members. Court fees are minimal in relation to prospective income.
- Maintain, manage and promote the on-court tennis programme
- Identify talented young players
- Provide high-quality individual, group and team coaching opportunities
- Improve the adult coaching provision
- Manage any assistant coaches required to deliver the programme.
- Organise regular intra/inter competitive opportunities for juniors
- A willingness to participate in and contribute to the club outside of purely the
coaching role
- Attend and contribute to committee meetings
- Stay current with the latest coaching techniques and industry trends
Newmarket Club has 4 all-weather hard courts of which 3 are floodlit and 3 artificial clay courts of which 2 are floodlit. The club has an air dome which covers 3 of the hard courts between September and April.
The club has a very spacious clubhouse equipped with changing facilities and toilets, a coach’s office, a large bar area, a kitchen and large television. There is a separate equipment store.
The club boasts a large membership of approximately 280 members including both juniors and adults of all ages. It has a very successful junior coaching programme with red, orange, green, yellow and performance squads taking place throughout the week and popular holiday camps. Juniors compete in the national club league team competitions as well as LTA tournaments and several of the juniors are now regular team members of the adult teams.
The club’s teams have experienced a lot of success both in the past and over recent years. There are currently 5 Men’s teams, 4 Ladies teams and 2 Mixed teams competing in the Cambs. league in divisions 1-9 and 2 Men’s, 2 Ladies and 1 Mixed team competing in the Norfolk and Suffolk league. The club also has 2 Vets mixed teams and Super Senior Ladies, Men’s and Mixed teams competing in the Cambs. League.
- Person must be a qualified and experienced LTA accredited minimum level 3, preferably level 4 Club coach or level 5 Performance Coach
- An enthusiastic, trustworthy, reliable and highly motivated individual who is committed to contributing to the success of the club both on and off the court
- Strong playing standard
- Passion for tennis and a commitment to player development
- A track record of delivering a high quality tennis programme to both juniors and adults
- Demonstrated ability to work with players of all ages and abilities
- The ability to inspire and manage assistant coaches with leadership experience
- Organised with good IT and financial management skills
- Excellent communicator/customer service skills
- A familiarity in the use of clubspark
- Satisfactory DBS and a good understanding of Safeguarding Standards and practice
