We are looking for a talented and ambitious Apprentice Tennis Coach to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for someone with a high playing standard, ideally at county level or above, who is eager to pursue a career in tennis coaching. The successful candidate will not only gain a Level 4 Sports Coach qualification but will also be supported in achieving LTA Level 1 and 2 coaching qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality tennis coaching across all levels, from our elite performance programme to our Tots Academy.
  • Develop and implement coaching plans that cater to the needs and abilities of different players.
  • Work towards and attain the LTA Level 1 and 2 coaching qualifications with our support.
  • Participate actively in all learning and development activities related to the Level 4 Sports Coach Apprenticeship.
  • Gain valuable experience in the food and beverage side of the leisure industry by working in our café, enhancing skills in customer service and operations.
  • Contribute to a positive and professional coaching environment, encouraging progress and enjoyment for all participants.

The Tennis Cafe is at the forefront of performance and development coaching in Sussex, offering a comprehensive range of programs from our performance programme for county-standard juniors to our innovative pre-school Tots Academy.

This year, our dedication to nurturing talent was showcased at the junior County Championships, where our players achieved remarkable success: winning three Championships, making six Finals, reaching five Semi-finals, and ten Quarter-finals.

In partnership with SCL, we are proud to offer a Level 4 Sports Coach Apprenticeship complemented by LTA Level 1 and 2 coaching qualifications. Our commitment extends beyond the court, providing experiences in the leisure industry, including food and beverage operations.

Our club's achievements have been recognised with prestigious LTA Awards, including being named the Sussex Community Club of the Year five times, South East Community Club of the Year, and achieving National Runner Up for Community Club of the Year. These accolades and our athletes' competitive successes reflect our dedication to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes tennis and community engagement at all levels. 

  • Very high playing standard, ideally county level or above.
  • Strong ambition to develop a career in tennis coaching.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. 
  • Flexibility in work hours, including weekends and evenings as required.
  • Commitment to the 18-month apprenticeship program and further professional development through LTA coaching qualifications.
  • Previous experience in coaching or playing tennis at a competitive level is highly desirable.
