Working under the direction of the Director of Tennis and Director of Sport the successful candidate will lead the supervision, management and integration of our academy tennis programme both on and off court.
The successful candidate will be able to work in a systematic, aligned and specific way across the school, including with staff, players and parents and be proactive in providing educational, social and emotional development and support of our boys. You must have strong interpersonal skills, be willing to collaborate with teachers and housemasters as well as working with our students’ families.
Leading across our academy programme, to include daily squad training with our players as well as delivery of individual lessons for each player. The successful candidate will lead on individual player development meetings and set goals and schedules for each player, ensuring alignment across the academy and school. There will be expectation that the LAC attends tournaments and captains our tennis teams in the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) school events (Year 7/8/9/10, Scottish Cup, Glanville Cup). In addition, the LAC will coordinate with Tennis Scotland for support of our players that are on the LTA player pathway.
The LAC will be expected to work across the school forging strong communication links with the Director of Tennis/Director of Sport/Senior Leadership Team and Housemasters. On court the LAC will organise and deliver a player syllabus as well as directing our S&C coach and hitter. Off court, the LAC will be expected to investigate methods of integrating development academy players into our elite academy as well as acting as a key figure in recruitment for potential performance players.
Merchiston Castle School is a private boarding school in Edinburgh with a world class integrated community that supports the development of our tennis players. Our new 3 indoor court facility allows our players to train up to 17hrs per week.

The Lead Academy Coach must be able to work across the school and be willing to support the total development of the pupil/player.
Qualifications and Skills
•LTA accredited plus coach with DBS/PVG approval
•Experience of working in a school or educational setting
•Strong playing background at Regional/National/International Level
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•A full UK driving license
