Full Time Tennis Coach
We are looking for a passionate Coach to join our existing team of dedicated coaches who has experience and understanding in delivering quality sessions to progress groups of children aged 4 to adults. The weekly coaching sessions run for 46 weeks a year and during the holidays, camps run for 10 weeks a year. The position also includes one-to-one coaching to members of the club, schools work, developing and running satellite centres, running competitions and festivals.
The requirements of the coach within each area of the programme are as follows:
- Development Programme – Develop those who wish to improve their game in a social environment while setting sound foundations to enable them to progress into competitions and match play.
- Satellite Centres – Securing venues in conjunction with the Director of Tennis which offer tennis all year around after school hours and in the holidays to attract more players into the game and feed into the club programme.
- Schools Programme – Enthusiast approach to working with schools either at the club or at the school to attract more players. Working with the Director of Tennis to expand our current programme and maintaining current links.
- Competitions – Organising and running internal and inter-club events for all age and ability groups.
Many players are taking individual lessons outside of the group coaching to further enhance their skills. The position is offered on a self-employed basis under a Coaching Agreement.
The position will be available in May 2024 and a start date can be discussed on an individual basis.
Stony Stratford Lawn Tennis Club has nine of the best floodlit tennis courts in Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire, a flourishing membership of over 480 children and adults and a busy match and social calendar. We also have two artificial clay courts with an air-dome over these from October through to April which provides winter indoor tennis.
Our modern club house with lounge; showers; kitchen and members bar area provide a welcome relaxing environment after the tennis. We also have a separate building that offers fitness and table tennis plus a coach’s office / pro shop upstairs in the main clubhouse.
John Cavill is the Director of Tennis and been at the club since 2010. His coaching business, Team Stony Tennis, has a core of 5 coaches that are LTA level 5, 4 and 3. They are also supported by level 1 and 2 coaches plus a group of enthusiastic Tennis Leaders and a full time administrator and part-time marketing team. Everyone is supported with regular team meetings, training and office support.
The ideal candidate for this role must be qualified as a minimum to LTA Level 2 or LTA Level 3. They must be LTA Accredited, hold a valid UK driving licence and have a car for transportation purposes. They must be able to deliver high quality coaching sessions to students of all ages up to club level and have good communication and organisation skills with high levels of personal professionalism. They must be willing to adapt, develop and share knowledge within the coaching team.
