Serbia's Nikola Milojevic put on an impressive display to defeat Spain's Gerard Granollers 7-6(4), 6-2 in the match of day at the Glasgow Trophy.

The second seed, who made his Davis Cup debut this year, edged an incredibly close first set in the tie-break and followed up with a break in the opening game of the second set which proved to be the boost needed to carry him to victory.

Qualifier Harri Heliovaara from Finland continued his impressive run of form in Glasgow with victory over British Wild Card Jonathan Gray 6-3, 6-1.

Former World No.52 Igor Sijsling progressed through to the second round with a straight-sets win over Spain's Bernabe Zapata Miralles, seeded No.5.

There was disappointment for Great Britain in the doubles draw as Lloyd Glasspool and James Ward, Jacob Fearnley and Connor Thomson, and Reuben Henry and Scott Macaulay fell in their opening round encounters.

Home interest will be high on Wednesday, with Scottish teenager Aidan Mchugh and Davis Cup hero James Ward set to make their first round appearances, as well as a second round clash for Lloyd Glasspool.
