Great Britain will be joined by Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Turkey, Greece, Georgia and Slovenia for their first Fed Cup by BNP Paribas home tie in a quarter of a century at February’s Europe / Africa Zone Group I tie in Bath.

The University of Bath is set to co-host the Zone Group event from 6 – 9 February 2019, with Poland welcoming the remaining seven teams from the Group; Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Estonia, Bulgaria, Denmark and Sweden.

Teams in Bath will be divided into two groups of four for the initial round-robin stage which will see each nation play three round-robin ties of two singles matches and a doubles rubber. The winner of each group will advance to Saturday’s play-off, with a place in April’s World Group II play-off at stake.

The Fed Cup is the largest annual international team competition in women’s sport and the event presents an exciting opportunity to watch Great Britain battle it out as they bid to reach the World Group II play-off for a third consecutive year. Should Great Britain reach that stage, victory in April would mean they would return to elite Fed Cup World Group level for the first time since 1993; the same year they last played a home tie.

Jo Durie, Clare Wood, Monique Javer and Julie Salmon rallied together at Nottingham Tennis Centre in May, winning their group against Luxembourg (3-0), Lithuania (3-0), Russia (3-0), Ukraine (3-0) and Turkey (3-0) to advance to the World Group.

Great Britain’s Fed Cup Captain Anne Keothavong said: "It’s so exciting that the LTA is bringing the Fed Cup back to Britain for the first time in 26 years and we can’t wait to show everyone the passion the team has for it. We know the level of competition will be tough but the home support really does make a difference to us.

"We can’t wait to welcome our terrific tennis fans to Bath.  And if you’ve never watched live tennis before, come along!  It’s a great day out for adults and kids alike.”

Ticket information will be released next month.
