Lauren Davis and Yanina Wickmayer knock seeded players out of Aegon Open Nottingham

The main draw of the Aegon Open Nottingham is now underway with some dramatic action right from the off.

With qualifying finishing on Monday morning, Round 1 provided its fair share of shocks with two seeds heading out.

Yanina WickmayerYanina Wickmayer upset No.4 seed Karin Knapp in straight-sets 6-4, 6-2 before Lauren Davis fought back from a set down to overcome No.8 seed Ajla Tomljanovic.

The American was two points away from defeat when play was suspended due to rain at 30-30 when 4-6, 4-5 down but upon resumption she held her nerve to take it into a tie-break.

After storming the breaker 7-1, she went on to win the third set 7-5 and take her place in Round 2.

Elsewhere at the Nottingham Tennis Centre, which will see former world No.2 Agnieszka Radwanska in action on Tuesday, there were wins for Mirjana Lucic-Baroni, Ana Konjuh and Bojana Jovanovski and Alison Riske. 

British No.2 Johanna Konta had to wait to get her first round match off to a start against Magdalena Rybarikova after the rain started to fall heavily in the early evening.
