Fourteen events were contested at the 2021 Isle of Man Veteran's Closed Tennis Championships proving a really busy week at Castletown Lawn Tennis Club, contending with a mixture of sunshine and heavy showers.
Two events were held as round robins with the other twelve as knockouts.
Rob Comber made it a fourth year in succession in the 35 & Over Men’s Singles, beating Nerijus Gricivicius 6-1, 6-2. Rob added to his singles titles with a 6-1, 6-4 win in the 45 & Over against Craig Blackwell. Peter Dunworth took the 55 & Over title with a fairly comfortable win against Peter De Carte 6-0, 6-1. The Men's 65 & Over singles saw Graham Mcfarlane compete in the first of his two singles finals, but Alastair Montgomerie proved to be too strong with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. In Graham’s other final, a repeat of last year’s 75 & Over singles Roy McLean took the title 6/1, 7/6.
The only Women’s Singles contested this year was the 35 & Over. This was a repeat of last year’s final, with Kirree Ronan beating Michaela Duchonova 7-6, 2-6, 10-7 in a final that lasted over two hours.
All Men’s and Women’s doubles were contested this year, 35 & Over, 45 & Over and 55 & Over. In the Men’s 35’s Rob Mason & Neil Ronan got back their title having lost it last year, this time beating Rob Comber and Steve Falconer 6-4, 6-1. A very competitive 45’s resulted in a win for Peter Dunworth and Craig Blackwell 6-4, 7-5 over Rob Comber & Alastair Montgomerie. Unfortunately, the 55’s was cut short with a retirement. Alastair Montgomerie & Peter Dunworth taking the title against Andy Murray & Steve Falconer.

The 55’s was won for the second year running by Cathy Tsitsos, this year with Michelle Simpson, when they beat Barbie Carter and Jenny Foy 6-1, 6-0.
