Junior tennis player Phoenix Weir about to hit a ball

Following some good training blocks and international tournaments over the summer, Phoenix Weir was on top form as he entered the J4 double ITF block in Loughborough. In the first week he beat Yujiro Onuma and Luca Pow both with great results. He went on to beat the No. 2 Irish seed, Freddy Murray and only narrowly lost out to the No. 1 French player Paul Inchauspe in the final, 6-4, 6-4 who is currently 138 in the world.

In the second week, the draw was just as strong where he played Nicolas Phillbert, Gregor Webster, Ben Hudson and the French No.1 seed again Paul Inchauspe, but beating him in three sets this time. He finally met Louis Bowden in the final who he beat 6–3, 6-4.

We are extremely proud of Phoenix who continues to train incredibly hard and at 15 was one of the youngest in the main draw. These results have improved his junior world ranking to 317. A great result for his father, Alastair, too after recently leaving his teaching job to coach and train Phoenix full time.
