Nike Junior Tour
April – August 2014
The Nike Junior Tour (NJT) is a global competition at 12U and 14U level with over 60,000 players from 34 countries taking part each year.
Founded in 1997, the Nike Junior Tour is designed to encourage participation at the highest level of the sport and identify the best young talent in each country. The top performing players in the domestic NJT tournaments have the chance to compete at the NJT International Masters, currently held in Florida in December. Previous participants and winners of the NJT include Rafael Nadal, Tomas Berdych, Juan Martin del Potro and Lucie Safarova.
In 2014 the Nike Junior Tour will run across the Grade 2 Summer National Tour, which includes 5 events for each age group, as well as two summer Grade 1 competitions, the Nike Clay Court Tennis Championships and the Nike Junior National Tennis Championships.
Leaderboards will operate for both age groups, which take ranking points gained at these tournaments, and a player’s best three results will count towards the leaderboard standings. At the Grade 1 tournaments bonus points will apply to semi-finalists, runners-up and winners. The bonus points will be 50% of the points normally allocated.
Example: Winner = 1000, so 500 bonus points will be added to award the winner a total of 1500 points; Runner-up = 750, so 375 bonus points will be added totalling 1125 points; Semi-finalist – 550, so 275 points will be added totalling 825 points.
Competitors participating in the events will receive a promotional Nike Junior Tour t-shirt. The winner of each event will also receive a Nike goodie bag.
The top male and female players on the Nike Junior Tour Leaderboard in both 12U & 14U categories, who are also eligible under 12U & 14U international age groups criteria may qualify for the NJT International Masters in December.
