Year round competition
Last updated: 12/12/2011
AEGON Team Tennis Schools, a series of three national competitions which all begin on a localised basis, has recently launched entry for two of its main competitions.
The Year 8 & 10 competition, which saw over 2,300 teams compete in 2011, and the National Championships, both launched for entry earlier in the month with all schools in England, Scotland and Wales encouraged to enter teams at the appropriate level.
Both competitions are Secondary school team competitions following the 4 singles and 2 doubles format.
Online entry for both competitions closes on Tuesday 17th January 2012
The Year 8 & 10 competition begins locally with a summer league which is organised by local organisers with teams entering at Division 1 or Division 2 onwards depending on their standard.
There are four events to enter (see table on right)

For 2012, an exclusive offer is open to the first 400 schools that enter the Year 8 & 10 competition. The LTA Competitions Team and the Tennis Foundation have combined to offer the first 400 schools who enter with three dozen, new Babolat Tennis Balls which will be delivered to the Teacher in charge of the teams before the league season gets underway in April 2012.
Kenilworth School & Sports College took part in the Warwickshire Year 10 boys Division 1 competition in 2011 and made it all the way through to the National Finals in December.
Those teams entering Division 1 have the opportunity to play outside of their area in the autumn term should they win their City or County league in the summer term. Many of the top players in each area represent their school in Division 1 and go on to compete in the Regional and even National Finals. The 2011 competition recently concluded with the National Finals at Bolton Arena.

Matches take place on fixed dates, in what is a Grade 6 knockout competition where players can earn ratings wins. The competition generally features older students from Years 10-13 although the event is open to Years 7-13 students and many strong players from lower age groups compete in the National Championships.
