Jack Findel-Hawkins and Alex Gasson picked up the first prize of the AEGON British Junior National 16U Championships as they maintained their winning formula in the boys doubles.
Just a week after collecting the 18U doubles title, the duo were triumphant again, disposing of Clay Crawford and Peter Ashley 6-4, 6-2 in Bournemouth.
Findel-Hawkins and Gasson had only teamed up to enter the 18U competition but after going seven matches unbeaten and collecting two titles, the duo have vowed to pair up again in the future.
Gasson said: “It would be silly not to now to be honest. We just seem to have clicked and it’s been a fantastic couple of weeks for us.
“We played well, returned well and we really enjoyed it out there."
Findel-Hawkins added: “We just kept things as simple as possible and it worked out for us. They are both good players but we are seven unbeaten now and that’s a great feeling to have.”
Meanwhile in the girls doubles final, there was success for Harriet Dart and Alice Keddie who registered a 0-6, 6-1, 10-5 victory over Beth Askew and Brigit Folland.
In the singles semi-finals, top seeds Josh Page and Dart remain on course for glory as they reached finals day in Bournemouth.
Page will now take on in-form fifth seed Crawford at the West Hants Club while Dart faces a tough match against second seed Askew.
Page’s progression into the final was far from straight forward though – the Ruislip-based teenager was leading 6-1, 6-6 against Billy Harris when the heavens opened on the south coast.
After a break of almost four hours, Page won the tiebreak to register the 6-1, 7-6 victory and admitted he’s already relishing a clash with friend Crawford.
“I’m quite good mates with Clay so it should be a good final,” said Page. “We have quite similar styles of play so it should be very interesting.”
Crawford’s route into the final was more straight forward as he defeated second seed Tom Colautti 6-3, 6-3 before the heavens opened.
In the girls half of the draw Askew – finalist at the under 18 competition last week - progressed to the final courtesy of a 7-6, 6-1 victory against Alice Keddie.
The Liverpudlian will now place Dart for the first time and she said: “I've not played Harriet before so I don't really know what to expect.
“I'm still feeling quite fresh - I've not had too many early starts so that's been good.”
Dart added: “Beth is a year and a bit older than me so we've never played each other before.
“I think the pressure will be on her so I'll just go out and give it my all.”
