Stars set for inaugural Wheelchair Team Battle

• 1 MINUTE READ

A group of Britain’s leading wheelchair tennis players will go head-to-head in a new team challenge at the National Tennis Centre later this month.

Grand Slam champions Alfie Hewett, Gordon Reid, Andy Lapthorne and Jordanne Whiley – along with a host of rising stars – will feature in a three-day team competition which will take place from 15-17 December.

The new event will provide the LTA’s Podium and Podium-potential players with a chance to gain valuable match practice ahead of the 2021 season as they look towards the Paralympics later in the year.

Players will be split into one of two teams and will face off across three days of singles and doubles action, within a team-based competition format.

The LTA performance team will schedule matches which will be decided by a tie-break in place of deciding sets.

Teams will be allocated points for victories, with the team finishing with the highest number of points being crowned the champions.

Matches will be broadcast live across the LTA’s website and social media channels – stay tuned for more details over the coming weeks.
