Sheffield is set to welcome world class tennis to the city next week as the AEGON GB Pro-Series continues in earnest at the Graves Tennis & Leisure Centre.
The men’s $15,000 tournament features strong British interest with a host of international players out in force, too, as they look to kick off 2012 in style.
Poland’s Jerzy Janowicz heads up the draw and is currently ranked at 221 in the world while he is sure to face stiff opposition from the likes of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Mirza Basic, Russian Fritz Wolmarans and Sweden’s Michael Ryderstedt.
Home grown talent will be on display in the form of Dan Evans, Alex Ward, Chris Eaton, David Rice and Richard Bloomfield.
Tournament Director Richard Joyner said: “We are looking forward to returning to Sheffield where we are always well looked after by the team at Graves. 2012 sees last year’s semi-finalist Mirza Basic return as the second highest ranked player, with all main draw direct acceptances currently in the top 500.”
The tournament kicks off Sunday 15th January with the doubles final on Friday 20th and singles final scheduled for Saturday 21st. Entry for spectators is free of charge throughout the week.
