Kyle Edmunds and Peter Ashley of Yorkshire have been representing Great Britain in the 16U and the 14U Teams.
The Great Britain 16U boys team of Kyle Edmund, Luke Bambridge and Evan Hoyt and qualified for the World Finals of the Junior Davis Cup.
Having won through their group at the European Summer Cup the team have been competing in the European qualifying finals at Le Touquet in France.
On day one GB defeated Italy 2-1 to move into the semi-finals and the last four, which means they have been guaranteed a place in the world finals.
In the 2-1 victory over Italy the tie was split 1-1 after the singles, following a three set win for Kyle Edmund, who beat Christian Perantini 6-1, 4-6, 6-0, but a straight sets defeat for Luke Bambridge who went down 6-3, 6-4 to Federico Maccari.
Martin Weston, the GB Junior Tennis Manager for Men's Tennis and the team captain, commented on the singles matches afterwards:
"Kyle played an outstanding first & third set, hitting hard with total commitment. Far too hot for his opponent to handle. Luke fought hard and gave everything but couldn't find a way through an opponent who hit with too much width and pace."
It meant the tie would be decided on the doubles and the pairing of Edmund & Bambridge were successful as they won 7-6, 6-2 against Stefano Nappolitano & Maccari.
Weston continued, "In the doubles the boys were phenomenal. It was a tough call not to play Evan [Hoyt] but Luke & Kyle had combined so well in Moscow that I had to do what the Italians wanted least."
"They created energy & intensity throughout the match, controlling the momentum. The level of doubles was very high. The boys have earned themselves a spot in the World Finals in Mexico by winning today. Fantastic."
In the semi-finals in Le Touquet the GB team will face Serbia whilst the Czech Republic meet France in the other. It is a significant improvement for the GB 16U team who finished eighth in the European Winter Cup in February and are now already in the top four in the European Summer Cup and could go further.
There was also good news for GB in the 14U World Team Cup in the Czech Republic as the team of Peter Ashley, Joshua Sapwell and Alexander Sendegeya defeated Venezuela 2-1.
The GB team had the tie wrapped up by the end of the singles as Ashley beat Christopher Goncalves 6-3, 6-0 and Sapwell beat Rafael Coutinho 7-5, 6-2.
In the doubles Ashley teamed up with Sendegeya but they narrowly lost out to Goncalves & Coutinho going down 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
In the other match in their group Korea beat USA 2-1. The GB team take on USA later today.
