The AEGON Classic started with worrying dark clouds on Monday morning but whilst play on the match courts saw some delay the Highland Spring Zone was open to over 200 primary school pupils hitting on the various fun tennis stations even though it was raining.
On the Slam Zone, an area for secondary schools, over 150 pupils took to the courts for competitive and fitness based activities.
At the British Tennis stand, as well as being able to find out about tennis, there are fun and games on ninentendo wi tennis Grand Slam Tennis, not only the kids but some youngish adults where seen to try their luck.
As the clouds dispersed and the crowds rushed to centre court to see Maria Sharapova lucky pupils from St Georges School met and hit with Zheng Jie, the number one seed in the competition and China’s number one player.
