Wales scored a home win with victory in the senior competition at the annual Home Nations tennis tournament in Cardiff.
The hosts placed third overall behind winners England and runners-up Scotland, with Ireland fourth.

“The standard was extremely high with several British champions on show,” said Paul Pritchard, of Tennis Wales. “England and Scotland were level on points after 144 matches, but England were declared the winners, having won 54 matches to Scotland’s 50.”
The Welsh men’s team included Josh Milton from Rhoose and Chris Lewis of Neath, who will represent the country in the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
The Welsh senior team was:
Chris Lewis (Neath), Josh Milton (Rhoose), Matthew James (Mold), Rebecca Llewellyn (Barry, now Hertfordshire), and Lucy Scott (Wrexham).
The younger age groups were -18U: Sian Bayliss (Wrexham), Safiyyah Azeez (Dinas Powys), James Hignett (Penarth) and Niall Keegan (Cardiff);14U: Emily Watson (Colwyn Bay), Meryl Bird (Caerphilly), Luke Simeone (Swansea) and Nicholas Tayler (Newport);12U: Joely Lomas, Luisa Braunerova (both Swansea), Matthew Story (Cardiff) and Matthew Lloyd (Swansea).
