The Scottish Open Junior Championships was held in Edinburgh last week and James Hignett of Penarth and Saffi Azeez of Dinas Powys both won the 16 and Under Boys and Girls events respectively. This tournament is what’s known as a Grade 2 event so it attracts national standard players from all over Great Britain.
This is a great achievement for both our promising players and will ensure they both rise up the GB rankings list for their age group.
James trains at Reeds School in Surrey where Tim Henman trained and Saffi trains at Esporta Cardiff. Saffi is currently competing at the same venue in a junior ITF event which attracts world ranked juniors from around the world.
