Young Mini-tennis players from North Wales came off second best in a special competition against Cheshire.
The event for boys and girls, aged eight and under, was held on the new courts at the North Wales Regional Tennis Centre, Wrexham.
The home team lost convincingly 22-5, but there were some fine performances, especially from Cai Llwyd Jones of Caernarfon, who won three matches, and Megan Davies of Wrexham, who won two.
It is hoped that similar events will be held in future, possibly involving other counties.
“Although the overall result was disappointing, the main aim was to provide a valuable learning experience for our youngest players, and especially to give them experience of being part of a team,” said Nick Lawrence, North Wales talent performance co-ordinator for Tennis Wales.
“We certainly achieved that, and there have been some very useful lessons learned.”
