We provide an AEGON Schools Tennis Programme for primary schools to encourage participation in the sport to pupils for the first time through providing a range of teacher training and development programmes, free equipment packs and a local competition ‘Road to Eastbourne’ which will be delivered under the Schools Games in 2012. - Guide to Schools Tennis
Volleys & Values – inspired by London 2012 – is an innovative and inspiring cross curricular resource for children to learn more about the game of tennis and the values that underpin the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Volleys & Values has been granted the prestigious London 2012 Inspire mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire programme which recognises exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games.
This competition is open to all primary schools and aims to provide a fun festival style event introducing mini tennis red to pupils. The event follows the School Games format but the County Final will be held on finals day of the AEGON International at Devonshire Park!

The Tennis Foundation is delighted to offer a new programme of rewards for both schools and pupils who participate in the Road to Eastbourne Competition at both Partnership and County Level.
School Rewards:
Each school which participates in a Partnership level Road to Eastbourne event will receive 30 mini tennis red sponge balls, 30 mini tennis red outdoor balls, 1 roll of barrier tape.
Pupil Rewards:
Each pupil who participates in the Road to Eastbourne will be invited to apply for a free mini tennis racquet and set of 3 balls. This offer applies to any pupils who are not already British Tennis Members and will be on a first come first served basis – 10,000 sets on offer! More information on how to apply for this will follow shortly.
AEGON Team Tennis Schools is a programme of three nationally organised competitions, which provides Secondary Schools and Further Education pupils with the opportunity to play regular competitive tennis and to represent their school. All competitions begin locally and culminate in a national final. Responsibility for organising these competitions lies with the LTA and The Tennis Foundation.

The 3 hour ‘Primary School Teacher Training Course’ has been developed to give teachers the confidence and tools to deliver tennis to a class of children in a small space. Courses can be booked locally through your School Games Organisers or your local PE and Sport contact.
The course is supported by an innovative DVD teaching aid, which is pupil facing and delivers the demonstrations and progressions directly to the children, allowing the teacher to do what they do best, teach.

The 3hr Secondary Schools Tennis Teacher Training Course has been developed to provide teachers with the confidence and knowledge to deliver traditional and modified versions of the sport.
The course also demonstrates an innovative new resource which has been developed to assist teachers in assessing the ability of pupils against National Curriculum attainment levels, through a range of descriptor cards and film clips.
Teachers attending the course are also provided with an overview of other areas of support and resource, including; cross curricular activities, competition, alternative delivery using Cardio Tennis, leadership & volunteering and how tennis can contribute to the delivery of external PE qualifications.
Schools attending the course receive a free copy of the innovative new 'Secondary Schools Tennis - Teacher Resource'. Schools are also provided with 1 year of free Schools Tennis Membership, which provides access to a wide range of benefits, including 30-40% discount on equipment.
Tennis Leaders has been developed to introduce more young people into volunteering. It is the first step on the tennis and sport career pathway for volunteering and potentially, paid employment. It has been designed to offer a wide range of opportunities to young people, providing them with enhanced skills and experience. Tennis Leaders is targeted at 14 – 16 year olds with an interest in tennis and sport – however, this can be extended to 13 and 17 year olds.

There are four Tennis Leader modules, each ranging between 2-3hrs in duration - they can be delivered individually, or together:
*Leaders must take this module before the other Tennis Leaders modules if they haven’t taken Sports Leaders UK (SLUK) Level 1.
Tennis Leaders modules can be delivered locally by trained tutors - there is also the opportunity for teachers to train as tutors.
