What are the Surrey LTA Clubmark Champs?
A league for all Clubmark accredited places to play in Surrey to reward the hard work coaches and places to play are doing to get players in their programme competing more.
How is it judged?
The only way we can fairly judge how much competition is taking place within a club is by looking at how many players at the club are playing ratings matches. A measure has been put in place to allow us to fairly compare the quality of programmes at different clubs within a county and across the country; this measure is the number of regularly competing juniors a place to play has.
What is a regularly competing junior?
A regularly competing junior is a player who is U18 and has played in at least 6 rating matches within a rolling 12 month period. The player must therefore have British Tennis Membership to allow their results to be submitted to the County Office.
How do you win the league?
This year there will be 4 separate leagues, the winner of each league will receive £500 to develop their Place to Play. The leagues will be categorised in accordance with Clubmark guidelines, which is determined by the number of floodlit courts a Place to Play has:
The winner of each league will be the club that has the highest number of regularly competing juniors.
*how this funding is utilised is to be agreed with Tennis Surrey (e.g. equipment, subsidy on coaching, court hire, travel, or marketing)
