Woodfield Tennis Club

Woodfield Tennis Club is a thriving member run club looking to appoint an enthusiastic qualified club coach to take forward our junior and adults coaching programme. Situated in Shrewsbury the club has 5 floodlit outdoor courts, 3 artificial grass and two tarmacadam, with new clubhouse built five years ago. Woodfield has the Clubmark Status.

There are over 100 adult members and 110 junior members. The club enters teams in the local summer, autumn and winter leagues with the men’s first team being the Shropshire champions for the last three years.

The existing coaching programme that has been running for over 30 years provides a good opportunity to build a healthy coaching business whilst at the same time increasing the club membership.

The Role

• Continue to develop the junior coaching programme in line with LTA standards including the promotion of competitive play.
• Provide group coaching sessions for beginners including potential new members with the aim of increasing club membership
• Provide individual coaching.
• Help improve the standard of play by providing coaching to team players with the opportunity to play in club teams.
• Create links and networks with a range of local schools providing pay and play sessions as an introduction to the club with the aim of increasing club membership.
• To work in partnership with the club committee to further develop the club.
• To co-ordinate the work of any other coaches working at the club.

The Person

Qualifications

• LTA Level 3 or above Club Coach Qualification
• Current LTA licence
• Appropriate public liability insurance.
• Current CRB certificate (updated within the last 12 months)
• First aid certificate.

Experience

• Evidence of a good track record running junior and adult coaching programmes with a minimum of 5 years coaching experience.
• Experience of leading other coaches.
• Experience of working collaboratively within a club structure including reporting regularly to the club management committee.

 Skills

• Ability to work and communicate effectively with club members, parents and colleagues.
• Ability to produce written documents e.g. registers, publicity material and reports as required.
• Ability to work with players of all ages and standards.

The appointment

• The appointment will be on a self employed basis and whilst it is expected that the Coach may be involved in tennis coaching elsewhere they will be expected to fulfill all their commitments to the club.
• The club will enter into a formal though flexible 3 year contract with the successful candidate.
• The coach will have dedicated court time to provide the coaching programme throughout the week and at weekends. Terms and conditions and coaching times will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
