On 22nd January, 14 players from Somerset, Gloucester, Cornwall, Dorset and Avon took part in a 9U county tournament held at Millfield School. 

Megan Rundle from Somerset was the only girl in the event with 13 boys which  included Somerset players Oliver Hutton, James Farr, Rueben Davey and Robin Chandler-Payne.  Although Megan lost all her matches she fought really hard against the boys taking all of them to 3 sets.

The standard of play overall was exceptional, players served and rallied

well moving their opponents around and putting the ball in every part of the court trying to win the  points.  The 4 players getting into the semi's were Samuel Jennings (Cornwall) against James Farr (Somerset) Maian Minnarr (Gloucester) against James Vincent (Avon).  Both semi final matches were excellent, all 4 boys tried very hard but eventually it was Samuel and Maian to fight it out in the final.  Maian was the eventual winner of the final, both boys played really well and fought hard but it was Maian's consistency and court coverage getting nearly every ball back into play that won him most of the points.  All matches were played with good sportsmanship and the players enjoyed the day.
