Robert Gordon University student Claire Birnie is through to the main draw of the £10k AEGON Pro Series at the Puma Centre in Sunderland after winning through her final qualifying match for the loss of just a single game this afternoon (Tuesday).

The Cults player is joined in the main draw by 15 year old Aberdonian Joanna Henderson who is playing her first event having fully recovered from injury.
