The efforts of several years of fundraising activities come to fruition at Udny LTC this weekend when an Aberdeenshire tennis club officially opens its brand new courts.
Radio Scotland’s Mark Stephen will perform the honours at Udny Tennis Club in Pitmedden which has recently renovated its two courts at a cost of approximately £40,000.
Club president Sharon Jamieson explains, “The work was undertaken with financial support from sportscotland, FSA, Aberdeenshire Council and Tennis Scotland. We also receivedl donations from several local businesses and rotary clubs in addition to our own fundraising efforts.
“Although we’re a small club, we do keep active and our popular junior and adult coaching sessions both get underway again this month.
“We are also looking for new members at all age groups and hopefully the new court surface will encourage people in the area to take up the sport irrespective of the level they play at.”
The opening will take place this Sunday, 10th May at 2 pm, after which there will be on-court drills and games for youngsters present, which is open to both members and non-members, finishing at approximately 4 p.m.
