In the final, McClure matched Paterson game for game to take the opening set to a tie-break. McClure had set point at 7-6 but Paterson held serve and then broke to win 9-7. A break by Paterson at 5-5 allowed him to hold serve to win the match and the title 7-6(7) 7-5.
Top seed Stretton of the Blackhall club in Edinburgh lost only 4 games on her way to winning her first title at this age group. In the final she beat Strathgryffe’s Sophie Dunlop 6-1 6-1.
