Edinburgh's Alan MacDonald and Dundee's Alice Keddie became Scottish Indoor Champions for 2012 at Scotstoun Leisure Centre, Glasgow yesterday.

MacDonald, elevated to 2nd seed following the late withdrawals of Stirling University bursars Nicholas Hatchett amd Rihard Emulins, took only an hour to beat surprise finalist Innes McNicol (Strathgryffe) 6-3 6-0.
McNicol broke MacDonald twice in the opening set however MacDonald immediately broke back on both occasions. MacDonald of the Thistle club in Edinburgh did not lose another game from 3-3 to win the the title for the seventh time.
The Strathgryffe player took full advantage of the surprise exit of top seed Joe Gill (Stirling University) by last weekend's boy's junior champion Jack Paterson at the quarter final stage. Paterson was no match for McNicol in the semi-final losing in straight sets to the 19-year-old Glasgow University student.
15-year-old Alice Keddie of the David Lloyd Club in Dundee won her first senior title beating junior champion Millie Stretton (Blackhall) in a closely contested women's final. Keddie led by a set and 5-2 before the Edinburgh player won 4 games in a row to lead 6-5. Keddie however held serve to take the second set into a tie-break which she won convincingly by 7 points to 2.
MacDonald partnered East of Scotland junior Euan McIntosh to win the men's doubles title in a thrilling final against West of Scotland county pair Jordan Gray (Thorn Park) and Robert Dalgetty (Virgin Active Lanarkshire). The West pair led 8-2 in the deciding match tie-break when the East duo won nine out of the next ten points to take set and the title 6-3 3-6 [11-9].
Dalgetty's sister Julie fared better in the final of the women's doubles when, partnered by Paige Denholm, they beat North of Scotland's Lisa Munro (Nairn) and Shona Graham (Kinnoull) 6-4 6-2 in the final.
