Nottingham Festival of Tennis 2nd-17th June

TENNIS FESTIVAL

The Nottingham Festival of Tennis marks the start of the

grass court season in Great Britain. This prestigious event is

made up of the AEGON Trophy and the AEGON Nottingham

Challenge and attracts top British and international players

as they prepare for The Championships, Wimbledon.

This year the Festival will also be the focus of the fi rst ever

National Mini Tennis Week sponsored by Highland Spring

from 11-16 June 2012, with local schools in the area invited

to participate in organised tennis activity. National Mini

Tennis Week will see LTA Mini Tennis activity taking place in

schools, clubs, parks and tennis centres across the country.

Entry to the festivals and seats on centre court are free,

courtesy of the LTA and Nottingham City Council. Come

and enjoy the action on court as players battle it out for the

chance to win the much coveted titles.

Did you know that you can join in the fun at the Nottingham Tennis Festival by coming along to the for a free Mini Tennis session at the Nottingham Tennis Centre?

Just turn up for the sessions from 4pm to 6pm on Mon 11th to Friday 15th June or from 10am to 12 noon on Saturday 16th June.

Allplay on Nottingham’s Market Square

NOTTINGHAM’S Market Square was taken over by tennis at the weekend as the British summer tennis season started in style. Hundreds of local people were given the opportunity to get on a specially made court in the square and give tennis a go ahead of world class tennis coming to the city next month.

Coaches from Nottingham Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Nottingham City Council Sports and Community Development staff as well as volunteers from Attenborough, West Bridgford and Magdala Tennis Clubs were on hand to put members of the public through their paces on Saturday.

Phillipson silver wraps up final day at Eton Manor Internationa

On the final day of play at the wheelchair tennis test event GB’s David Phillipson had to settle for the silver medal as top seed and world no.7 Robin Ammerlaan took gold in the men’s singles final.

Tennis Fun Day in the Market Square

Tennis Fun Day

Nottingham City Council are working in close partnership with The Lawn Tennis Association aiming to increase participation in tennis within the City.

Old Market Square 12 May 11am- 4pm

Come and join us at our Tennis "Fun Day" in the Old Market Square this Saturday, where we'll be giving people the opportunity to try their hand at tennis, and get practicing in time for Wimbledon!

A host of activities are on offer including:

Fastest serve game

Hot shot target wall inflatable

A Battack wall

Mini tennis court

plus much more

There will also be a tennis court set up to give accomplished players and first-timers alike the chance to get on court and have a hit.

The event also celebrates the imminent start of the British summer tennis season. The Nottingham Festival of Tennis, which features three world class tennis tournaments this summer, is just weeks away and marks the start of the grass court season which culminates at Wimbledon.

The Festival kicks off on Monday June 4 with back-to-back tournaments, the AEGON Trophy (4-10 June) and AEGON Challenge (11-17 June), held at the Nottingham Tennis Centre.

The festival also includes the 23rd British Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships which will take place between July 17-22.
