The snow and ice led to few tennis balls being hit from early December for outdoor facilities and coaches in the area.  

We heard of some coaches being unable to work and players not able to practice for up to 4 weeks due to the weather, which has undoubtedly had an impact on both development and finances.  With temperatures going below sub zero and snow covering the courts even the diehards found it impossible to even think of hitting a ball over the Festive season. 

Northumberland Mini Tennis Leagues also didn’t escape the freeze with some January fixtures being cancelled due to organisers / helpers and players being stuck in the snow.  With the temperatures now rising and snow melting we are hopeful for everyone involved with tennis that things can get back to normal.
