Lancashire Tennis President, Peter Williams visited Manchester Active Lifestyles Centre in Moss Side with a tennis equipment donation from the Lancashire Tennis Junior Development Trust.
Every Thursday, a community sports club runs sessions at the Moss Side venue providing range of sporting activities for local children, with Mini Tennis proving to be one of the most popular.
Local resident, Elvereen Fletchman coordinates these sporting opportunities to engage young members of the community in participating in a healthy lifestyle through participating in sport.
The sessions are supported by Manchester City Council’s Tennis Development Officer, Darren Ashton, who is helping young volunteers from the venue develop as coaches by organising a Level 1 Coaching Assistant course this summer at Manchester Tennis Centre.
The equipment donated by the Trust to the group will help them grow and allow more young people to take part.
In addition to the sessions in Moss Side, many of the participants have also taken the step of attending coaching sessions at Manchester Tennis Centre, which is part of the SportCity complex.
