Congratulations to Alex Juniper (Bromley Tennis Centre) and Daisy Hugkulstone (The Parklangley Club) who won Kent’s County ‘Road to Wimbledon’ Final. Their prize is a place in the National ‘Road to Wimbledon’ Finals, which is played on the grass courts at Wimbledon 15 – 20 August.This prestigious three-tiered national event started in 2002 and has been a great success at all three of its levels.The first tier is played in clubs who organise a tournament for boys and girls in the 14U age group. This year In Kent, 25 clubs and 2 schools ran events. The winners and some runners-up were then invited to play in the second tier event in the County Finals, which were held indoors at Bromley Tennis Centre, over the weekend of 18 – 19 June and on Sunday 3 July. The boys’ semi finalists were Alex Juniper (Bromley Tennis Centre), James Davis (Appeti Tennis Centre) Milo Bargeron (The Parklangley Club) and Tommy Cartledge (Sevenoaks LTC) with Alex beating James in the final. In the girls’ event final, the semi-finalists were Daisy Hugkulstone (The Parklangley Club), Olivia Parson (Bromley Tennis Centre), Sophia Thomas (Bromley Tennis Centre) and Mikaela Dsouza (LA Fitness) with Daisy beating Olivia in the final.All players in the County final received a ‘goodie’ bag provided by the event sponsors HSBC.Well done to all players who have taken part and Good Luck to Alex and Daisy in the finals.
