Meet the volunteers who support and assist with tennis in Hertfordshire.
Gavin was a late starter into tennis but quickly progressed into the club’s 1st team and to playing in the top division of the county league, representing the county on several occasions. He became involved with Herts tennis aged 40 (current president) and became an LTA councillor in 1990.Positions held include: Chairman of the County Cup committee, Competitions and Ratings Committee, Member of the Development Board.
Martin Corrie has represented the County at all levels since he was 15. He is currently Chairman of the LTA Professional Tennis Advisory and Scrutiny Board, Treasurer of Herts Tennis and an active member of the Harpenden Tennis Club. He is married to Janet and they have three sons who have followed in their parents footsteps and have all represented Hertfordshire.
Sybil has always been keen on many sports and became a PE teacher. She decided to take an active interest in tennis when her family started to play in local tournaments. Sybil was appointed Junior Secretary and then became County Secretary in 1988 - a post she continues to hold.
Trevor has been involved in tennis playing to a high level for many years. His responsibilities are Vice President LTA, Vice President Herts and a pro-active member of the Herts Executive Committee.
Jenny is a Coach Education Tutor and has previously held the position of County Performance Officer. She formally represented Hertfordshire and has been Ladies Captain. Jenny is actively involved in the county supporting some of the clubs.
Lee was asked to join the Executive Committee in 2007 having been involved in the tennis scene in Herts for many years. He represented the county as a junior and also at Over 35 level and has been a member of West Herts and Watford LTC for over 30 years, until recently as Men's Captain, a position he held for 10 years. Lee also ran a ratings tournament for the LTA for more than 10 years at the club.
Leo has been working in tennis for over 20 years. During that period he has worked as a Head Coach for 7 years, a County Development Officer in 2 counties (Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire) and is currently Tennis Development Manager for Hertfordshire.
Kelly became a member of the Herts Executive Committee in 2010. She represented the County at all levels since the age of 10. She also represented Loughborough University during her time there as a student. She is was captain of the Ladies Herts Team for a couple of years before her sister and current Ladies Captain, Sarah Donovan, took over from her in 2004.
